Our kitchen worktops are exposed to spillages, moisture and condensation almost every day. With worktop sealant, you can provide long-term protection for your kitchen. Read on to find out more!
As aesthetically pleasing and super high-tech as our modern-day kitchens are, the worktop remains the unsung hero. It’s the workhorse where most of the action takes place, from making a daily cup of coffee to preparing packed lunches and cooking for a dinner party.
Over the course of its lifetime, the kitchen worktop is going to face a lot of condensation, moisture and liquids. Which is why it’s so important that there’s a strong bond between it and the materials set against and within it. Kitchen worktop sealant does precisely that, forming a waterproof seal in the joints between the worktop and backsplashes, sinks, stovetops and more.
While all silicone-based worktop sealants are waterproof, the best sealants for kitchen worktops are also mould-resistant. UniBond Kitchen & Bathroom Shower in 1 Hour Sealant is specially formulated to create a long-lasting, hygienic, waterproof and mould resistant seal in warm, humid, environments like the kitchen. UniBond’s fastest curing sealant yet, it can be exposed to indirect water contact from just one hour, getting your worktop back in use quickly.
Offering the peace of mind of a lifetime guarantee, UniBond Kitchen & Bathroom Triple Protect Sealant is a flexible, mould repelling and waterproof sealant that forms an extra strong barrier, keeping your worktop totally protected.
- Clean. Whether you’re sealing a sink to worktop or sealing around worktops, you’ll want to achieve the strongest seal possible. Remove any old sealant and clean dust and dirt away from the area you’re working in and ensure it is dry before proceeding.
- Prepare. Cut the tip of the cartridge above the screw thread and trim the nozzle to size. Don’t worry if you cut it too small at first – you can always make the aperture larger (but not vice versa). Insert the cartridge into a sealing gun.
- Seal. Starting from one end of the joint, hold the cartridge gun at a 30-degree angle, gently press the trigger and apply the kitchen worktop sealant, moving steadily along the joint until you’ve reached the opposite end.
- Smooth. For a perfect finish, run UniBond’s Sealant Smoother tool over the freshly-applied sealant to press it into the joint and smooth it. Remove excess sealant immediately.
- Finish. Follow the curing time instructions on the worktop sealant cartridge, remove any excess immediately with white spirit.
Either way, UniBond’s range of anti-mould sanitary sealants has what you need to achieve a perfect and long-lasting finish.
